Gozo Day1

After an exciting first night in our super villa, during which Dad had to take on a small scorpion in the bathroom, we woke to lovely sunshine and were up in time for a visit from Rose, the James Villa resort rep in Gozo.

Rose gave us an introduction to the island, which she said can be visited in its entirety in 2 hours!
The main features seem to be the beaches and the villages, all of which have supermarkets and restaurants serving fresh fish. Rose denied that there were any scorpions on Gozo, but we both saw it and Dad squashed it!

After a quick swim in the pool, we went to the local supermarket for provisions and found everything we needed, even yeast to try making our own bread (latest hobby.)

This afternoon we walked to the nearest beach. It is gorgeously quiet and also pretty hot so we wasted no time getting into the sea once we found our way there. Just having the nicest swim when Mum suddenly noticed she had been stung by something and being not quite sure by what, she made a dash for the beach kiosk to enquire. She was assured that it was a jellyfish, so that was fine, if a little sore, and an ice cream from the gelateria van made her feel loads better.

Back home again, Mum resumed her swim in the pool, while Dad lit the BBQ. We dined on Maltese sauages, chicken drumsticks and pork belly chops and all washed down with a glass of Tempranillo, 2.5 euros for the bottle!

Loud cicadas, velvety sky and bright stars - a perfect Mediterranean evening. Off to bed now and will find out how to post pictures tomorrow.
