Abbey week over

We've come to the end of our week at the Abbey. Met up with Lyds for a pub supper one evening:

Mandy came to visit Mum with a couple of friends (photos to follow)
And Dad spent some time in the Abbey too, taking a photo with special permission from Peter the Verger

And finally we packed up (rather sadly) and came home this afternoon, after a great week

Got home to find Molly and the fish all doing well

...and once we had a cosy fire going we were glad to be back!

A Night at the Theatre

Just arrived at the Victoria Palace Theatre, waiting for Billy Elliott to start. Exciting!...

Dad, of course, is playing Scrabble to while away the time...

Back at The Abbey

Here we are again - having a much quieter week than last time, partly because we can keep the windows closed! We didn't have this view, (from the living room) before, as the tree was in leaf:

Newsround

Mum has been going for muddy walks in lieu of running (knee issues), and when I say muddy I mean MUDDY!

On Saturday, we enjoyed cooking for the Golledges. We found some radical new fruit called Tamarillas for the fruit salad:

They looked pretty, but turned out to be rather sour - more like a lemon! But the SMOKED mackerel and the BRISKET were delicious - and, of course, the cheese that John brought along. Here we are after the meal, all too full to move!

Yesterday (Sunday) we popped over to Conifers to visit Grandad, who had finally come home from Harefield hospital on Saturday night. He's fine, looked really well actually and is just taking it easy. He may have a form of epilepsy (going to see a specialist in London in a few weeks) but if so it can be controlled with tablets and he'll be able to drive again.

We watched Songs of Praise from the island of Lindisfarne and sang along to the hymns (except for Dad, who snored along!) Then Uncle Peter's Christmas cake came out...

Home Cooking on a wet day

Very pleased with tonight's supper:

Homemade turkey and vegetable soup
With homemade bread
Followed by homemade apple and Wensleydale pie.

All delicious!

The rain carried on and Mum found the Dorney wetlands living up to their name this morning, during a walk after a visit to Burnham Abbey.
